![]() As the story goes on Kino realizes he must throw his past away as he is pursued by greed and evil in physical and spiritual form. So after the physician denied them because they were indigent, they decide to go pearl diving in an attempt to come up with enough money in order to pay the greedy doctor. After a run to the doctors they discover that the doctors avarice is more important then the life of a human being. ![]() A poisonous scorpion stings Kino's infant son, even after Kino and his wife Juana feebly attempted to prevent such a calamity. ![]() ![]() Within the first chapter conflict occurs. In the story the pearl, written by John Steinback, a common fisherman, named Kino, lived his life with little to no trouble at all. Even in a world, seemingly of peace and simplicity, conflict may arise.
